The TTD plate number is registered in Adoodo/Ota Local Government Area, Ogun. Those three letters record where the vehicle was first put on the road — not who drives it, and not where it is today.

Nigerian number plate with the TTD code — Adoodo/Ota, Ogun
A plate issued in Adoodo/Ota carries the TTD code. The characters after it are a sample, not a real registration.

Ado-Odo/Ota, administered from Ota, registers vehicles as TTD. With about 896,700 residents recorded in 2006 across 878 km² it is the most populous district in the state, roughly 1,021 people to the square kilometre. Its plates turn up nationwide, because a code follows the car and not its owner.

What the TTD Code Does and Does Not Tell You

A Nigerian plate carries the code of the local government area that issued the registration, so TTD places the paperwork in Adoodo/Ota. It does not follow the car afterwards: a vehicle sold across state lines keeps its plate until it is re-registered, which is why a TTD plate away from Ogun is a question for the seller rather than a finding in itself.

The letters also say nothing about the holder, the model or the history of the vehicle. Colours and special series are a separate system, explained on the code hub; what the car itself has been through — auction lots, damage, mileage at sale — is recorded against its VIN and travels with the car even when the plate changes.

Questions about the TTD plate number

What does the TTD plate number mean?

TTD is the registration code of Adoodo/Ota Local Government Area in Ogun. A vehicle wearing it was registered there; the three digits after the letters are its serial inside that LGA, and the last two letters are the series.

Which state is a TTD plate number from?

Ogun. The code identifies the local government area — Adoodo/Ota — and the state is printed on the plate in words above the number.

Have a whole TTD plate, not just the code?

The lookup takes the full plate and returns the local government area behind it. For the history of the vehicle — auction records, damage, mileage and photographs — check it by VIN.
