Plate code

SRA Plate Number Meaning: Remo-North, Ogun

The SRA plate number is registered in Remo-North Local Government Area, Ogun. Those three letters record where the vehicle was first put on the road — not who drives it, and not where it is today.

Nigerian number plate with the SRA code — Remo-North, Ogun
A plate issued in Remo-North carries the SRA code. The characters after it are a sample, not a real registration.

Remo North uses SRA. The 2006 census put 59,911 residents on 199 km², roughly 301 for every square kilometre. Allocation follows local government areas rather than population, so a small district holds a full code of its own. Everything else about the car comes from its chassis number.

SRA Plates We Have Checked

What the SRA Code Does and Does Not Tell You

A Nigerian plate carries the code of the local government area that issued the registration, so SRA places the paperwork in Remo-North. It does not follow the car afterwards: a vehicle sold across state lines keeps its plate until it is re-registered, which is why a SRA plate away from Ogun is a question for the seller rather than a finding in itself.

The letters also say nothing about the holder, the model or the history of the vehicle. Colours and special series are a separate system, explained on the code hub; what the car itself has been through — auction lots, damage, mileage at sale — is recorded against its VIN and travels with the car even when the plate changes.

Questions about the SRA plate number

What does the SRA plate number mean?

SRA is the registration code of Remo-North Local Government Area in Ogun. A vehicle wearing it was registered there; the three digits after the letters are its serial inside that LGA, and the last two letters are the series.

Which state is a SRA plate number from?

Ogun. The code identifies the local government area — Remo-North — and the state is printed on the plate in words above the number.

Have a whole SRA plate, not just the code?

The lookup takes the full plate and returns the local government area behind it. For the history of the vehicle — auction records, damage, mileage and photographs — check it by VIN.
