What does the AUY plate number code mean?
AUY is the code of Auyo Local Government Area in Jigawa. A vehicle carrying it was registered there, which is not the same as saying it has stayed there since.
Does the Jigawa code on a plate mean the car is in Jigawa now?
No. The code records where the registration was issued. A car keeps its plate when it changes hands and only gets a new one when it is re-registered, so the plate tells you where the paperwork started, not where the car sleeps.
